This is the piano accompaniment for Fanny Hensel's "Der Abendstern" for low voice. It is written in the key of C Major with a vocal range of C4-F5. Because the voice starts one eighth note ahead of the piano part, it includes a starting pitch for the singer at the beginning. Hensel composed the music for this piece more than a year before the poem was published in 1825.
