This is the piano accompaniment track for No. 12 “Fac me cruce custodiri” from Haydn’s Stabat Mater. Written in 1767, it is a deeply moving choral work which sets a medieval Catholic poem about the Virgin Mary’s grief at the crucifixion. It was recorded at a stately tempo of quarter note = 46 and begins with a 3 bar intro. The movement has a vocal range of F#3-B4, with the highest notes always occurring within a run, making it an excellent selection for vocalists wishing to touch their highest registers. Performed by Wendy Hellmann.
