La Caraqueña | String Quartet
La Caraqueña | String Quartet
This dramatic habanera, originally written for piano by Carlos Celzo-Blanco, has been arranged for the advanced intermediate string quartet. It is written in the original keys of C and F minor, and features shifting into 3rd position in Violin 1, harmonizing in Violin 2, a solo section in Viola, the typical habanera rhythmic bassline in Cello, and cross rhythms between dotted eighths/sixteenths and triplets. Not much is known about this Venezuelan composer other than this piece may have been first published in 1925. It makes an excellent choice for those looking to expand their repertoire list.
The PDF download contains both a full score and a set of individual parts - Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, and Cello. All individual parts are formatted on 2 pages.
