This arrangement of the Peruvian folksong “Llanto del Indio” is for the advancing intermediate pianist. It features 3rds and 6ths in the right hand, as well as two voices in the left hand and jumps larger than an octave, though still very manageable. It also uses mordents and trills. Dynamics and articulations are included throughout, although no pedal markings have been used. This melancholic melody is typical of the high Andes, and reminds me of my travels to Cusco. The right hand melody can be imagined as two pan flutes, while the left hand is similar to the rhythm and harmony of a guitar.
