This sweet melody by Theodore Akimenko has been arranged for solo cello and piano. It is written in the original key of E flat Major and features shifting to and from 4th position and many moments for rubato tempo. The piano part is a true accompaniment and does not double the melody except for a few places for support. Theodore Akimenko was a Ukrainian composer, pianist, and musicologist in the late 1800s, with much of his music capturing the culture of his home country. This is an excellent piece for the advancing student and works perfectly for a short and sweet encore!
