This is the piano accompaniment track for the aria “These Are They Which Came” from Gaul’s oratorio, “The Holy City.” It has been recorded in the original key of A Major with a vocal range of E4-G#5. Written in 1882 for the Birmingham Musical Festival, “The Holy City” is often considered Gaul’s best known cantata, and at the time of Gaul’s death in 1913, it was the most performed work of English choral music in history.
