This is the piano accompaniment of Fanny Hensel's "Totenklage" for low voice. It is written in the key of C minor with a vocal range of B3-F5. Because the voice and piano start at the same time, it includes a starting pitch for the singer at the beginning. The poem, by Justinus Kerner, is the third of six in a cycle entitled Des Bruders Tod, referring to the death of his brother in 1840. Hensel set the lyrics in August 1841. Performed by Wendy Hellmann.
